Microdermabrasion Facials: Getting the Best Results
Microdermabrasion facial is a technique that has become very popular in recent years. It is offered as a beauty treatment in many spas and salons as a way to improve the appearance. Microdermabrasion facial is the latest in a long line of beauty treatments to improve one's look. However, as it is a relatively new procedure, many people may not understand how it actually works. By comparing microdermabrasion and the traditional facials, we can better understand microdermabrasion as a beauty treatment procedure. Sloughing off the Surface Skin Basically, microdermabrasion works just like pumice stone would in removing dead skin and callus. It uses a scouring action to remove dead skin cells and other surface impurities from top surface of the skin. Microdermabrasion can improve facial features by reducing fine lines and wrinkles. It is effective in reducing the appearance of some scars, and can even help to clear up acne by cleaning up the pores. Microdermabrasion facial treatments are relatively mild and gentle, requiring no anesthesia. Hence, it is safe enough to be done at day spas and salons although more intensive treatments have to be administered by a qualified doctor. How Facial Improves Appearance. Microdermabrasion is like traditional facials in that they both improve skin appearance by exfoliating the skin and encouraging new growth. So microdermabrasion is similar to facials that remove skin cells, such as scrubbing or peeling treatments. Normal facials merely cleanse and tone. To get better appearance, exfoliation is required. For even better result you might need to get microdermabrasion treatment. Among the various facial treatment and techniques, microdermabrasion is perhaps most similar to the chemical peel. As the name suggests, chemical peels use special chemicals to remove the skin layers. Both have the same effects, that is the general reduction of scars, wrinkles and other blemishes. Both are effective for reduction of acne as well. However, while microdermabrasion is a relatively painless procedure, chemical peels can be painful and usually require a recovery period of a few days to a week. On the other hand, while microdermabrasion is milder, it may require a few treatments to achieve the same result as a deep chemical peeling. Is microdermabrasion better than Facial? Microdermabrasion actually complements facials rather than replace facial treatments. It is not a matter of which is better. Microdermabrasion helps to reduce fine lines and scars while the gentle cleansing facial will leave the skin feeling rejuvenated. With perhaps the exception of chemical peels, microdermabrasion does not replace facial treatments, but works best in conjunction with them to enhance beauty. So next time you go for a facial at the salon or a spa, consider a complementary microdermabrasion facial as well.
